Op shop finds

It is always very exciting to walk into an opshop and look towards their fabric bin and see it overflowing with fabric. I have been very lucky in recent weeks to have found some really good bargains. There is about 40 metres of fabric in total and I paid a 23 dollars for it all. The flower fabric with the white background (in the first photograph) is a dress I paid 3 dollars for. It is too big for my four year old so i'm going to make it into a skirt. The fabric matches her new shoes perfectly.

A bit of fun

This will not make any sense to anyone other than my dear partner.

Retro skirt, top and handbag for the 4 year old little misses.

Photos are not very clear as they were taken with mobile phone. I picked up the fabric from spotlight. I didn't really like it at the time of purchase but it was the only thing that spotlight had that was remotely colourful. However after getting home and looking at it for a few days I fell in love with it. I only bought 1 metre of it and of course when I went back to buy some more there was none left.

I've not followed a pattern with either of these. I'm a bit of a cut and shunt type sewer, making things up as I go along. You can't see it but the t-shirt has a rectangle piece of matching fabric on the upper part (it covers a stain).

Sewing for Grace

These are little dresses I made for my cousin's brand new daughter. She was born at around the 30 week mark at about 1126gms. She is a very strong little girl and was breathing on her own from the very beginning. She is putting on weight and doing all the right stuff. The pattern is a free charity pattern I downloaded from http://www.miraclebabies.com.au/files/PrematureBabyGownPatterns.pdf

I also made a quilt with some of the scrap left overs. If you look closely you can see where I have made strips of fabric out of small strips and squares. This quilt measures about 30cm by 35 cm and it fits her perfectly. I actually made two quilts however the other picture seems to have gone AWOL and I have already posted them up to her.
